If you’re considering this mystical South-Asian country for your romantic vacation, here’s our complete Bali honeymoon guide to refer to.
General Overview

Best Time To Visit: April to October is the dry season with warm sunshine, low humidity, and fewer chances of rain.
Off-Season: November to March is the wet season with fewer tourists. April and October are shoulder seasons with fewer crowds, lower prices, and better weather.

10 Best Bali Honeymoon Places:
1. Nusa Dua
Nusa Dua’s pristine white sand beaches and lush surroundings quickly transformed it into a resort haven. Today, Bali province’s capital is a hotbed of 5-star accommodations, world-class golf lounges, luxury massage parlors, and some of the best beach clubs in the country. It’s exclusive private beach areas and water sports with expert guides frequently lure travelers to visit this area on their Bali trip!
2. Ubud
Ubud is a special place in Bali. It’s a town that sits amidst the rolling rice fields, jungle ravines, and rolling mountainside. With places like Tegenungan Waterfall, Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary, Elephant Caves, Kajeng Rice field, and Saraswati temple, Ubud is where Bali’s artisanal architecture and spirituality combine. One of the best honeymoon places in Bali to visit!
3. Canggu
A coastal village in Bali, Canggu is known for its vast resorts, surf schools, and terraced rice paddies – as seen on those aesthetic social media reels. A place packed with lively vibes, the coolest beach bars, and the crashing waves of the Indian Ocean, Canggu is THE honeymoon place in Bali and unmissable in this tropical destination.
4. Uluwatu
Home to Uluwatu temple (one of the most popular tourist spots in the country), picturesque scenic spots, secret waterfalls, and breathtaking cliff views, Uluwatu is a highly sought-after 1-day tour destination in Bali. It also has some of the best nightlife in Bali with vibrant parties held every weekend.
5. Penida Island
Penida Island or Nusa Penida is located about a 20-minute boat ride away from Bali. It’s rugged landscapes and untouched lush beauty give travelers a break away from the touristy, crowded areas of the country. However, it’s recommended to practice caution when you travel here. Opt for high-speed boats and don’t take the risk of traveling to less developed areas. Many parts of the island don’t have safety railings and high seaside cliffs can be pretty risky to get close to!
6. Denpasar
Denpasar is the capital city of Bali province in Indonesia and its International airport is where tourists from all parts of the world land. Despite the urban features, this honeymoon place in Bali offers plenty of laid-back sites, historic architecture, and nature’s bounty to discover. Bajra Sandhi monument, Bali Museum, Bali Zoo, Pura Blanjong Temple, and Sanur Beach are some of its best attractions to visit!
7. Jimbaran Bay
If you’re looking for a peaceful beach experience in Bali, Jimbaran should be a definite visit on your list. The coastal village with a long stretch of sea is popular for fishing and hence, lip-smacking seafood! It’s calm waters also make it ideal for surfing, speed boating, and kayaking as well.
8. Kuta
Kuta is one of the most touristy spots in Bali. It has beaches, vibrant eateries, plenty of water activities, and a dynamic nightlife. But from what I’ve seen, Kuta is a hit or a miss. Some tourists don’t like the slew of crowds and the trash that follows. While others enjoy the upbeat vibes of the clubs and bars. My suggestion is to travel here open-mindedly and see if it’s the place for you!
9. Lovina Beach
Lovina is home to some of the most unique attractions in Bali, particularly its black sand beaches, coral reefs, and dolphins. Just outside this resort area, you can also find scenic sights like Singsing waterfall, Jatiluwih rice terraces, and Ulun Danu Beratan temple.
10. Kintamani
Kintamani is home to Mount Batur, volcanic mountains, lush landscapes, and traditional Balinese life like no other part of the country. The Kintamani coffee, endemic to the region, is sold at various local shops and is known for its smooth taste, rich aroma, and flavoring notes of orange, chocolate, and a hint of black tea.

What To Pack For Your Bali Honeymoon
For your Bali honeymoon, you pack as you do for any other tropical vacation. So, linen shirts, cotton tops, comfortable lowers, flip-flops, beach dresses, rompers, shorts, swimwear, sunhats, travel documents, travel adapters, and any prescription medicines.
When visiting temples, you have to dress respectfully. Legs should be covered, so carry sarongs with you. Some temples also want you to cover the heads, but its mostly provided in the premises itself.
7 Essentials on a Bali Honeymoon are:
1) Insect Repellent (Option 1 || Option 2 )
2) Sun Lotion (Option 1 || Option 2 )
3) Sun Hat (Option 1 || Option 2 )
4) Anti-Diarrheal Medicine (Option 1 || Option 2 )
5) Reusable water bottle (Option 1 || Option 2 )
6) Face cloths (Option 1 || Option 2 )
7) Mini crossbody bag for day trips (Option 1 || Option 2 )
When visiting Bali, it’s just as important to know what you should leave at home as to know what to bring. Some non-essentials are winter clothes, expensive jewelry, heeled shoes, and luxury makeup products (Bali’s humidity can melt away anything). Waterproof bags, coats, and umbrellas are must-haves if you’re going during the rainy season.
Best Activities On A Bali Honeymoon
There are many romantic things to do in Bali. From traveling the spiritual temples together to getting the adrenaline rush at thrilling watersports to exploring the scenic gems like Mount Batur and Ceking rice terraces, Bali’s anything other than boring. The attractions you visit will depend on where you plan to honeymoon as well.
In Nusa Dua, beaches and museums are the most popular. The jungle haven Ubud boasts the iconic Bali swing, rice terraces, remarkable trek opportunities, and the best luxurious private villas in all of Bali. For beachfront stays, visit Jimbaran, Canggu, or Kuta. The eateries are also vast and offer varied experiences in Bali, so don’t forget to explore and make reservations for romantic dinners in advance. Lastly, a Balinese couple’s massage is a great romantic activity for honeymooners and the best way to unwind after the wedding shenanigans.
Things No One Tells You About Bali
1. Bali doesn’t have the best beaches. If you’re coming to Bali for a scenic beach experience, you will be disappointed. At least half of the popular beaches are dirty and crowded. Some in Jimbaran Bay and Canggu are still nice, but not as lovely as, let’s say, Malaysia or even Thailand. The waves are also dangerous and I wouldn’t recommend going near the shore for anyone who doesn’t know how to swim.
2. The traffic is unreal and the congestion in Bali is unbelievable. The only road rules are there are none. There are bikes and cars on sidewalks. Traffic lights are often broken and vehicles can come from anywhere. If you want to go somewhere far, check the traffic and book a bike instead of a car. Walking is also dangerous and you have to be very careful of the vehicles.
3. Sunrises & sunsets are dreamy. It’s as magical as people have described or how it’s seen in the photos. You can watch sunrise and sunset from literally anywhere in the country, and you will be pleasantly mesmerized by the beauty.
4. Bali Belly is real. Do you know that Bali Belly or food poisoning is estimated to affect over 30% to 50%of tourists in the country? The hygiene is very poor at many local establishments. To prevent yourself from getting sick, drink bottled water, wash your hands, and eat at reputable eateries only. Carry antibiotics with you. Most of the time, the Bali belly is caused by bacteria and antibiotics will make you feel better instantly.
5. Ask what meat you’re eating. In Indonesia, dog meat isn’t illegal and can be served without even mentioning it. When you’re dining somewhere, ask what’s inside the food to be aware of your meals’ ingredients. Indonesian cuisine is lip-smacking though.
6. The Gojek app is the most reliable. You can use it for many services like transportation, food delivery, payments, logistics, etc. It’s popular all over Indonesia and the customer service is quick to assist in any queries.
7. Monkeys are pure evil. There’s no such thing as cute monkeys in Bali. They will snatch almost anything from your hand. Food, phone, camera, etc. They won’t attack or bite a human though! In Indonesia, monkeys are considered sacred and you will find them in temples. But they can also be present in jungles and lush areas.
8. Power outages are a big problem. The power can go out anytime and anywhere. It’s best to keep your power banks, phones, and other electronics charged if you’re leaving the accommodation for a longer time. If you’re booking an Airbnb, ask them about generators and backup power sources in advance.
9. Ants, Spiders, & Geckos everywhere! If they scare you, Bali isn’t the place for you. You will find them in the best 5-star hotels and probably they won’t be in the room, but their presence in the surroundings is out of everyone’s control.
10. It’s not worth visiting in the monsoon season, which is typically from November to April. During the monsoon season, it doesn’t rain, it pours. The rains are also unpredictable and the humidity will make you highly uncomfortable.
